MGCCC Baseball splits with Jones

PERKINSTON---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College moved a game ahead of Pearl River in the race for a playoff spot with a doubleheader split Apr. 25 against Jones. The Bulldogs (25-14, 11-11) lost game one 7-0 but rebounded to take the nightcap 7-1. The Bulldogs could only manage four hits against Bobcat pitcher Andrew Pierce in game one, two of those coming from Will White.

Gulf Coast responed with a win in game two behind a complete game win by Anthony Izzio and another two hit game by Will White. Nick Purdy also had two hits along with 2 RBI.

The Bulldogs get a chance to wrap up the final playoff spot in the MACJC South Division May 1 in the regular season finale against Hinds at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Curley Farris Field. On Apr. 27 Gulf Coast takes on No. 1 ranked LSU-E in a home doubleheader at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
