Bulldogs' 11 game win streak snapped in doubleheader

PERKINSTON---East Central used a four run third inning to push past Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 6-2 in game one of an MACJC South Division doubleheader Tuesday to snap an 11-game winning streak by the Bulldogs. Gulf Coast (13-4, 1-1) bounced back in the nightcap to win 9-4. In the opening loss to the Warriors, the Bulldogs could only manage four hits while starting pitcher Sean Kennel give up five runs in five innings of work. Kennel did strike out six to add to his MACJC leading total of 25. The Bulldogs got their offense going in the nightcap as Corey Groue smacked a three-run homer while Patrick Kirkland drilled a solo shot. Nick Purdy also chipped in with two hits. On the mound, Jordan Steele got the win while Anthony Izzio and Kenneth Atwood combined to pitch the last three innings. Gulf Coast is back in action Saturday Mar. 20 hosting Southwest with games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m
