MGCCC baseball sweeps #10 Itawamba

FULTON---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College celebrated the Easter weekend by traveling to Itawamba and sweeping the 10th-ranked Indians 11-3 and 12-3. The Bulldogs (19-8) too game one behind strong pitching from Jordan Steele, who went six innings and struck out 7 for the win. At the plate, Gulf Coast used the long ball as Ty Lain went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI, Patrick Kirkland had two hits including a grand slam, and Derek Davis and Jay Bell each added solo home runs.
In the 12-3 game two romp, Tyler Buckley went six innings, gave up three runs and struck out four to earn the victory while Will White went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and 2 RBI. Derek Davis got two more hits in the nightcap including a three-run homer and 5 RBI.
Gulf Coast takes on the MACJC South Division leader Hinds Apr. 7 in Raymond.
