MGCCC baseball sweeps Southwest

PERKINSTON--Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College fell behind 3-0 early to Southwest in game one of their MACJC South Division doubleheader Saturday.

From then on, it was all Bulldogs as they came back to beat the Bears 8-3 and go on to win game two 9-5 to complete the sweep.

Gulf Coast pitcher Bryan Babin tossed four scoreless innings and struck out four to record his second win of the year. At the plate Will White went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI while Trey Porter crushed a three-run homer and Jann Butler went 2-for-2 with a homer and 2 RBI.

In the nightcap, Porter (East Central) had three more hits including a double and two runs scored. Jeremy Hill blasted a 3 run homer and Corey Groue went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI'S and a stolen base. Pitcher Sean Kennel threw three scoreless innings striking out four and earning his fourth win of the year. Gulf Coast (15-4, 3-1) takes on archrival Pearl River Mar. 24 in Poplarville.
