MGCCC baseball makes it 9 straight with sweep at Miss. Delta
March 12, 2010
MOORHEAD---A 13 day layoff due to cancellations and bad weather didn't slow down Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Friday as the Bulldogs swept Mississippi Delta 10-3 and 7-4 to extend the team's winning streak to nine.
In game one, Gulf Coast pitcher Sean Kennel tossed five scoreless innings and struck out three for his third straight victory. At the plate, Jeremy Hill went 2-for-3 including a grand slam while Will White and Trey Porter both had three hits.
The Bulldogs took the nightcap thanks to three scoreless innings of relief pitching by Jordan Steele. Will White, a recent William Carey signee, added two more hits in the victory while Nick Purdy smacked a two-run homer and Ross Weathers chipped in two hits.
Gulf Coast (10-3) opens MACJC South Division play Mar. 16 with a home doubleheader against East Central beginning at 2 p.m.
