Ty Lain's bases loaded RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning helped Mississippi Gulf Coast Comunity College defeat Mississippi Delta 5-4 and earn a split in the doubleheader Feb. 17 at Perk. Lain, a sophomore from Wyoming, had three hits in the victory while Jeremy Hill had two hits and drove in a run. Anthony Izzio got the win on the mound as he struck out five in three innings of work.
Miss. Delta took the opening game 2-0 as the Bulldogs (2-3) could only mange five hits at the plate. Gulf Coast pitcher Sean Kennel pitched a complete game and struck out 13 in a losing effort.
The Bulldogs travel to Decatur Saturday to play in the East Central Tournament.
