Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College scored 26 runs in two games and swept Baton Rouge 16-12 and 10-0 Wednesday at Curly Farris Field in Perkinston.
The Bulldogs (16-6) took game one after shelling Baton Rouge with 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning then hanging on to win the slugfest. Jarrod Cannette paced the 10-run third with a grand slam, while Jeremy Hill added a solo shot. Bryan Babin pitched and won his second game of the year.
Gulf Coast cruised in the nightcap, with Preston Necaise tossing a five-inning complete game shutout. Jeremy Hill kept up his torrid hitting pace by smacking a two-run homer and driving in four.
The Bulldogs split a doubleheader at Baton Rouge earlier this season. On Saturday Gulf Coast, winners in nine of their last 10 games, will host East Central in an MACJC South Division doubleheader at 1 p.m.
