Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College celebrated Mardi Gras by sweeping No. 1 ranked LSU-Eunice 14-8, 6-4 Tuesday at Curly Farris Field on the college’s Perkinston Campus.

The Bulldogs (6-4) used a five-run sixth inning to open up an 11-2 lead on the Bengals in the opening game en route to the 14-8 win. Jerrod Cannette both went 4-for-5 at the plate for Gulf Coast, with Cannette driving in 6 and White knocking home 5 runs. Bulldog pitcher Clint Dempster had another strong outing as he struck out 9 in 6 innings of work for the victory. Sophomore Luke Briley earned the save.

The nightcap saw LSU-E jumping out to a 4-1 lead before Gulf Coast came back to win 6-4. Kenneth Atwood struck out seven in six innings of work for the win on the mound, with Skylor Burts earning the save. Jeremy Hill led the Bulldogs offense with 2 RBI’S.

Gulf Coast gets back in action this Saturday in Booneville against Northeast and John Wood C.C.
