MGCCC baseball splits at Jeff Davis C.C.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College got back into baseball action Tuesday with a doubleheader split at Jeff Davis C.C. in Brewton, Al. The Bulldogs (7-5) won the first game 3-0 behind strong outings from Drew Granier, Clint Dempster and Skylor Burts on the mound. Granier threw four innings of no-hit ball, Dempster struck out five in two innings of work, and Burts earned a save. Will White led Gulf Coast at the plate with a 2-for-4 outing.

White, a freshman from Wiggins, went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the nightcap, won by Jeff Davis 7-3. Jeremy Simmons also added an RBI with a run scored. Michael Baxter took the loss on the mound.

This Saturday Gulf Coast will host East Mississippi at Noon and Pensacola C.C. at 6 p.m. in a three-team tournament at Perk.
