Bulldogs back in first place tie after two wins Tuesday

ELLISVILLE-No. 13 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is back in a first-place tie with Hinds in the MACJC South Division after an 11-4, 5-4 sweep of Jones Tuesday.

Gulf Coast (24-10, 11-5) took game one 11-4 as Jeremy Hill led the offense with a grand slam homerun, his team-leading 7th long ball this season. Leadoff batter Jerron Casey had two hits, scored twice, and had an RBI. Drew Granier (5-2) got the win and Craig Mackay earned his first save of the season.

The Bulldogs won the nightcap 5-4 thanks to more offense from Hill, who had two doubles, drove in a run, and was the winning pitcher. Clint Dempster, who usually starts, came in from the bullpen to earn a save.

Gulf Coast will host Northwest Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Perk.
