Co-Lin golfers capture first in MACJC tournament

WESSON The Copiah-Lincoln golf team captured first place in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) fourth event at Wolf Hollow Golf Club. The Wolfpack, coached by Ronny Ross, shot a 2-day total 297-295 592 seven shots ahead of second place Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (302-297 599).
East Mississippi finished third (297-305 602) followed by Hinds (302-304 606) and Northwest (308-309 617).
Gulf Coasts Richie Williams shot a six-under 66 in the final round to take medalist honors (74-66 140). Joining Williams on the All-Tournament team were Elliott Bingham of Hinds and Donnie McFarland of Co-Lin (72-70 142), Alex Rowland of Itawamba (74-71 145), Clay Price of Co-Lin (72-74 146) and Grant Goforth of Northwest (75-72 147).
Other members of the Co-Lin team include Chad Vivien of Purvis (78-72 150), Ryan Ratcliff of Meadville (78-76 154) and Derin Petite (79-79 158).
The Co-Lin JV team finished tied for eighth place (319-314 633). Leading the way was Colby Bass of Bude (75-74 149). Jake Smith of Hazlehurst shot a 77-80 157 followed by Bradley Boykin (84-79 163), Ulric Minor of Natchez (83-81 164), and James Richardson (86-94 180).
The Wolfpack will be back in action in the fifth MACJC tournament at The Ridge Golf Club in Corinth on March 30 and 31.
