MGCCC Golfers win third straight event

Mississippi Gulf Coast broke from the pack Sunday to capture the East Central MACJC Golf Tournament at the 6021-yard Forest Country Club by 19 shots, firing rounds of 296-295--591 to win their third tournament in a row. Northeast (610) finished second, followed by East MS (613), Co-Lin (614), East Central (633), Hinds (638), Northwest and Holmes (640), Pearl River (650), Itawamba (652), Jones (673) and Southwest (754).
MGCCC's Corey Ward shot a sizzling 1-under 70 in brutal conditions to capture medalist honors, while teammate Richie Williams (146) made All-tournament team for the third straight tournament. Other Gulf Coast scores include Michael Wilkinson (151), Nic Ishee and Skyler Dennis (153), and Brandon Herrington (159). Caleb Hickman (155) and Brad Pritchett (156) led Pearl River with Top-20 finishes.
