MGCCC 4th after round one of NJCAA Tourney

SCOTTSBORO, AL.---The first day of the NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament was highlighted by sunny skies, mild weather and low scores. David Griffin of Rend Lake (IL) College teed of in the first group of the tournament and carded the lowest round of the day with a six under 66. Ryan Cyplik of St. Clair (MI) County Community College is in second place along with Corey Ward of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College as they both fired a 68 today. Brian Affleck of Potomac (WV) State College is fourth after 18 holes with a two under 70. Twelve golfers had under par rounds and another six came into the scorer’s tent with an even par round of 72.

On the team side of the event, Darton (GA) College leads the event with a 290. Grand Rapids (MI) Community College is second with a 291, while south Mountain (AZ) Community College is third with 292. All three teams played together in today’s round and will also be paired in tomorrow’s round. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is fourth with 293, while Tyler (TX) Junior College is fifth with a score of 295.

The second round is scheduled for tomorrow, starting at 7:00 AM at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, AL.
