2010 Perkette Dance Team auditions to be held in March

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus will hold auditions for the 2010 Perkette Dance Team March 5-7. Check-in will begin at 5 p.m. on March 5, and the workshops will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on March 5 and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. on March 6. Audition check-in will be on March 7 at 12:30 p.m. Attendance at the workshops March 5-6 is required to audition.

Suggested skills for audition include double and triple pirouette turns, fouette turns, grand jetes (including switch leaps and straddle jumps), tilted toe touch, and both front and side battement. During both the workshop and audition, students should not wear jewelry, capris or shorts, and only jazz or soft-soled shoes.

The deadline to register is March 3, but preregistration is highly recommended. For check-in on March 5, students should bring applications, a current photo, proof of insurance and current student identification if available.
