Shootout win at Jones breaks second-place tie
ELLISVILLE, Ms.---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College knocked home three shots in an overtime shootout and Lady Bulldog keeper Jennie Jester stopped three Jones shots in a 2-1 thriller that sends Gulf Coast (13-3-1) to the MACJC State Soccer Tournament at Hinds this weekend.
Kelli Ranson, Sarah Wilson, and Courtney Fairley all netted shots during the shootout while Ashley Harvey notched her team’s lone goal during regulation. Gulf Coast and Jones finished the regular season in a tie for second place in the MACJC South Division. The MACJC rules called for a coin flip to break the tie, but officials form Gulf Coast and Jones agreed to play a tie-breaking game Thursday in Ellisville.
The Gulf Coast men’s team is also headed to the MACJC State Tournament this weekend.
