Men complete undefeated regular season

POPLARVILLE, Ms.---It was a bittersweet trip to Poplarville for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College soccer teams.

The men finished off an undefeated regular season with a 2-1 overtime win over the archrival Wildcats. Justin Hyde’s penalty kick goal in the extra period was the difference for Gulf Coast (14-0-2, 10-0). The Bulldogs enter this weekend’s MACJC State Tournament at Hinds as the No. 1 seed from the South Division after clinching the title four days ago.

The Lady Bulldogs (12-4-1, 7-3) fell behind 3-0 and rallied but eventually lost to Pearl River 3-2. Gulf Coast is currently tied with Jones for the second place in the MACJC South Division. According to MACJC rules, the tie must be broken by a coin flip. The winner of the coin flip would then go to the State Tournament. Pearl River is already in as the South’s No. 1 seed.
