MGCCC women’s soccer team makes the grade

During the 2009 season Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s women’s soccer team continued to excel at a high level both in and out of the classroom. The Lady Bulldogs went 14-5-1 in 2009 and made it back to the MACJC title game. Also for the second straight season, Gulf Coast was honored by the NJCAA for being one of the nations’ top academic teams.

Inside the classroom, the team’s cumulative grade-point-average was 3.42…the 3rd highest in the nation among NJCAA women’s soccer teams. The 2008 MACJC State Championship team had the highest G.P.A. in the nation at 3.40.

“The level of achievement these young ladies have reached is second to none,” said Ladd Taylor, Gulf Coast athletic director. “We are extremely proud of the way this team represents Gulf Coast on and off the field.”

The NJCAA recognizes those teams with cumulative grade-point-averages of 3.0 or higher.
