HATTIESBURG – Mississippi Gulf Coast dropped to .500 in MACJC play after getting swept Tuesday by Jones County.
The Bulldogs (16-12, 6-6 MACJC) lost 9-1 and 13-3 to Jones (30-2, 13-1), which leads the MACJC. It was a home doubleheader at William Carey for Gulf Coast, which is building a new stadium at Ken "Curly" Farris Field.
Jones scored six times in the eighth to blow the game open.
Gulf Coast managed just five hits in the second game. Ethan Necaise (0-4) took the loss.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday when they travel to Mississippi Delta. The doubleheader starts at 1 p.m.
