Parker, Davis named All-Region

PERKINSTON — Two Mississippi Gulf Coast freshmen have been named to the All-Region 23 Team by the school's coaches, with right fielder Brandon Parker and first baseman Alden Davis adding to their postseason awards haul.

Parker, who played at West Harrison High School, set a new school record by slugging 24 home runs, which ranked second in the country. He also led the nation with 81 RBI in 52 games. Parker hit .424, had a .500 on-base percentage and slugged .932.

Davis, a freshman from Pascagoula, batted .384 with eight home runs and 56 RBI in 50 games. He slugged .616 and reached base 47.3 percent of the time.

The duo helped lead Gulf Coast to 36-16 record and a third-place finish at the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament. It was the team's first visit to a regional since 2012.
