PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will select the next student, or students, to bring the Bulldogs mascot to life during upcoming cheerleader tryouts.
Traditionally, there has been one student selected to be the mascot, but cheerleading coach Christy Bowman said they may pick two this year, to help fill the demanding schedule. There is scholarship money associated with the role.
Prospective mascots must complete the application and release from liability form, have a current physical, and submit a headshot and three recommendation forms. They must have a 2.5 GPA in high school or college.
The application deadline is April 4. The tryout will be April 16, starting at 8 a.m. There will be a lunch break.
Mascots must perform an original two-minute skit and will be evaluated on theme, originality, use of props, character and personality, impromptu ability and overall crowd appeal.
