MGCCC Cheer shines at UCA camp

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast picked up a slew of awards at the UCA College Spirit Camp, a four-day event that concluded Sunday with the Bulldogs squad winning the overall gameday award in the community college division.

"They came together and killed the championship today," cheer coach Karlee Nobles said. "Nothing elite or fancy, just clean and simple and we got the job done."

Gulf Coast also won first place in fight song, which was their camp goal. Tyler Avera, the new Mac, was awarded a Top 5 All-Superior Award for mascots and many superior ribbons through the weekend.

The Bulldogs squad is captained by Kimmy Day and John Smith. There are 16 new members of the 19-person squad, making the performance even that much more impressive.
