PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast has more players selected for College Football America 2016 Yearbook's JUCO Starting Lineup, that publication's version of an All-American team.
Defensive end Isaiah Buggs, wide receiver Brandon Martin and kicker Joshua Rowland were listed among the 26 players from 19 schools. Five other schools had two players.
Buggs is one of the most highly recruited junior college defensive ends in the country, coming off a freshman season that saw him record 59 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks. The Ruston, La., product was selected to the All-MACJC South Division second team.
Martin, who originally signed with LSU, sat out a redshirt season last year. He had more than 2,000 yards receiving and 38 touchdowns in his last two high school seasons. Martin, who is from New Orleans, was invited to play in the Under Armour All-American Game.
Rowland, who is from Madison, made 16 of 19 field goals as a freshman and all 44 extra points. He was named to the NJCAA All-American Second Team.
The Bulldogs kick off their season on Sept. 1 at Itawamba. The first home game at newly renovated A.L. May Memorial Stadium is Sept. 8 when East Mississippi visits.
