PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast scored the first ten points against Delgado on Wednesday night at the Weathers/ Wentzell Center and never looked back. The Bulldogs beat the Dolphins 92-65 in their last game of 2017.
"I thought we were good outside of six minutes there in the second half," Gulf Coast coach Wendell Weathers said. "We got lazy, complacent. We didn't get back on defense. We went into a fog, but we were way ahead."
Dedoch Chan (Fr, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) led the Bulldogs with 21 points, and LaRaymond Spivery (Fr, Lucedale/George County) had 16. Evan Howard (So, D'Iberville/D'Iberville) came off the bench and scored 11.
Gulf Coast (8-1) led 66-38 with 14 minutes left when the Bulldogs took their foot off the gas. The Dolphins (2-7) went on an 18-3 run to get to within 13, but the Bulldogs were able to pull back away.
"That's not something we're going to allow to happen," Weathers said, "but I thought, for the most part, it was a pretty dominant performance."
Gulf Coast returns to action after the Christmas break when the Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge on Jan. 8.
