Bulldogs look to stay unbeaten in South

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast returns to the Weathers/Wentzell Center for the first time in 2018 Thursday night when Copiah-Lincoln visits.

The Bulldogs (8-2, 1-0 MACJC South) resume division play against the Wolves (9-1, 0-1). Gulf Coast is among half the eight-team South that won their division openers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The game will be streamed online at https://livestream.com/BulldogLIVE/events/8008984.

"They're a little bit smaller than we are, probably a little bit quicker than we are," Gulf Coast coach Wendell Weathers said. "They're going to try to run something similar to our dribble-drive trying to get to the rim and kick it out for open 3's. If we can contain that and rebound, and run our offense without turning it over every time, we've got a chance."

The Bulldogs turned the ball over 29 times in a double-overtime loss at Baton Rouge on Monday. It was their first action since the Christmas break.

After a dead-legged practice Tuesday following 50 minutes of basketball on the road, the team rebounded Wednesday.

"We're still trying to get back in rhythm from three weeks off," Weathers said. "Maybe everybody else is, too. Today was by far our best practice with the best effort since we got back. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of something good."
