PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will host a Softball Coaches Clinic and Players Skills Camp on Dec. 3 at the Perkinston Campus.

Gulf Coast head coach Kenneth Long will be joined by his assistants, Christie Meeks and Reid Cooley, as well as Ole Miss assistant coach Katie Rietkovich.

The coaches clinic begins with a two-hour seminar at 8 a.m. in the Athletic/Education Complex adjacent to the football field. Coaches can earn 0.5 continuing education units for attending through 3 p.m.

The cost is $50 per coach. Pre-register by emailing with the following information: name, school and T-shirt size.

The skills camp, for players in sixth through 12th grades, will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Ross-Smith Field. Pre-registration is available through Dec. 1 for $70. Email with the following information: name, grade, age, position and phone number.

Registration will start at 9:30. Late registration will be $75. Group discounts are available by contacting Long (228-990-1676) or Meeks (251-709-0272).

Lunch will be provided for all players and coaches.

Long heads into his 16th season at MGCCC just nine wins away from 500 in his career. Meeks has been pitching coach at Gulf Coast for the last two seasons, during which time the Lady Bulldogs have won 91 games, had two players selected NJCAA All-Americans and one sign with an SEC school.

Cooley completed her playing career at Gulf Coast in 2016, and Rietkovich has been a volunteer coach and camp coordinator at Ole Miss since 2015.
