Lady Bulldogs jump to No. 5

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast moved up a spot to No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Division II softball poll, released Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (20-7, 9-1 MACJC) went 4-0 last week, and defeated then-No. 17 Northeast twice Monday night in Biloxi. Those victories against the Lady Tigers came after the deadline for consideration in this poll.

Gulf Coast is one of four MACJC schools in the poll. The others are No. 1 Jones County, No. 12 Itawamba and No. 14 East Central.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action Friday when Holmes visits for games at D'Iberville High School. The doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. Gulf Coast is playing games at area high schools this season while Ross-Smith Field gets a new stadium.
