No. 5 Lady Bulldogs host No. 1 JCJC

PERKINSTON — There will be two of the top five teams in the country on the field Tuesday at West Harrison High School.

 

No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast entertains top-ranked Jones County in an MACJC doubleheader that starts at 4 p.m.

 

The Lady Bulldogs (22-7, 11-1 MACJC) have won nine straight. They've batted .366 and scored 74 runs (8.2 per game) over that stretch, putting them in second place in the league.

 

Brittney Triplett (Fr, Brandon/Brandon) is batting a torrid .618 in that stretch, and All-American Lexie Mathis is hitting .567 with a .867 slugging percentage. Mathis has three doubles, three triples and 12 RBI in the last nine.

 

The Lady Bobcats are unbeaten in 28 games, including their first 12 conference games. They are batting .379 as a team, and their pitching staff has a 1.27 ERA.
