PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Nora Keehn has been named MACJC Pitcher of the Week after a spectacular, scoreless week in the circle.
Keehn, a sophomore from Thibodaux, La., had a no-hitter, didn't allow a run and went 3-0 for No. 5 Gulf Coast.
"She had a dominant week throwing a no-hitter and coming in and getting the win in the second one was awesome," Lady Bulldogs coach Kenneth Long said. "This is the way we knew she could pitch."
Keehn didn't allow a Holmes baserunner until one out in the fifth of a 10-0 victory, then entered in relief down 4-3 in the nightcap and retired all nine batters she faced in a 6-4 win. She retired 24 of 26 batters she faced that day.
To start the week, Keehn shut out then-No. 17 Northeast with a nine-strikeout five-hitter in a 7-0 win. She finished the week with 14 strikeouts and one walk.
Keehn twice won MACJC Pitcher of the Week last season.
