MGCCC stays No. 5 in national poll

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast remained at No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings released Tuesday.


The Lady Bulldogs went 3-1 last week, including handing Jones County its first defeat of the season. JCJC remained atop the rankings, followed by Kirkwood, Phoenix and LSU-Eunice.


Other MACJC teams in the poll include No. 13 East Central and No. 14 Itawamba.


Gulf Coast (25-8, 14-2 MACJC) returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Southwest (16-14, 12-4). The doubleheader starts at 3 p.m. in Summit.
