PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast ace right-hander Nora Keehn has signed a letter of intent to continue her collegiate softball career at NCAA Division II West Alabama.
Keehn, who played high school ball at Vandebilt Catholic in Thibodaux, La., has a 20-5 record with a 1.52 ERA. She has struck out 113 batters in 161.1 innings of work, and has also picked up two saves.
As a freshman, she went 14-2 with a 0.98 ERA. She won NJCAA Pitcher of the Week once and MACJC Pitcher of the Week twice. She added another MACJC honor this year.
"I've learned so much," Keehn said. "I have to keep my spin sharp. You have to stay mentally tough through everything. Through your ups and downs, you have to stay mentally tough."
West Alabama is coached by former Northwest Mississippi Community College assistant coach Carie Dever Boaz, who is in her first season as head coach.
"Coach Carie is an amazing pitching coach," Keehn said. "(MGCCC Assistant) Coach Christie (Meeks) even talked to me about her, and my dad researched her. I got to meet her on campus, and seeing how she interacted with the players, it just felt like home."
