PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast had a double-digit halftime lead evaporate in the third quarter, and the Lady Bulldogs fell 65-52 to LSU-Eunice at the Weathers/Wentzell Center.
Gulf Coast falls to 5-4, while the Lady Bengals are 13-2.
The Lady Bulldogs used a 12-2 run early in the second quarter to push their lead to double digits. They led 31-20 at halftime.
The tables turned in the third quarter, with LSU-E outscoring Gulf Coast 28-6.
"We rushed the ball," MGCCC coach Hope Adams said. "Right now, we really just don't have any ball-handlers. We came out a little lax on defense. We got away from the gameplan, to come out and let our defense produce our offense. We didn't hustle and play back up to their intensity in the third quarter."
Gulf Coast returns to action Thursday when Copiah-Lincoln visits Perkinston. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
