PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast saw a halftime lead disappear Friday at the MGCCC Soccer Complex when Northwest scored twice to win 2-1.
Kaitlyn Harwell (Fr., Stone/Wiggins) scored with 11 seconds in the first half, her fourth goal in two games for Gulf Coast (3-4-1). The play was forced by a long shot by Jess Shepherd (So., Parrswood/Manchester, England).
When the keeper couldn't control the rebound, Harwell pounced on it but needed three shots to get it in the net.
Northwest scored on a deflection off a Lady Bulldogs defender with 16 minutes left, then converted a rebound with 2:06 left for the win.
Gulf Coast, which was playing for the first time in nine days after a pair of cancelations, returns to action Tuesday with another non-division game at Hinds.
