2012 Bulldogs finish season ranked #6

MGCCC head coach Steve Campbell has seen his team ranked in the NJCAA football poll for 102 straight weeks.

For the seventh year in a row, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs have finished the season ranked 8th or higher in the NJCAA poll. Gulf Coast ended the 2012 campaign ranked No. 6 after a 9-2 season that featured the team’s sixth straight trip to the MACJC Championship Game and sixth South Division title since 2005. The Bulldogs have also been ranked in the NJCAA poll for an incredible 102 straight weeks.

Meanwhile several members of the 2012 Bulldogs played a huge role in the South’s 17-3 win over the North at the 39th Annual MACJC All-Star Game Dec. 1 hosted by Northeast. Quarterback Clint Hatten was named the South Offensive Most Valuable Player Award and received the Keith Daniels Award. The South Offensive Most Valuable Player award is named for former Pearl River head football coach Keith Daniels who passed away suddenly in 2000. Hatten connected on a 14-yard touchdown pass to Gulf Coast teammate Cade Amacker to extend the South’s lead to 17-3 in the fourth quarter. On defense, Gulf Coast defensive lineman Travis Taylor recovered a fumble and played alongside Bulldog teammate Brandon Keel on a South defense that held the North to three points.

Hatten, Amacker, Taylor, and Keel were joined by Bulldog offensive linemen Lawrence Ramsey, Ramsey Sellers, and Ben Wiles on the South squad.
