MGCCC basketball splits with Delgado

PERKINSTON---One winning streak continued while another came to an end for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College against Delgado Jan. 8 at the Weathers/Wentzell Center.

The Bulldogs (11-2) saw a nine-game winning streak snapped in a 74-72 loss as the Dolphins (9-9) overcame a 17-point deficit to earn the win. Melvin Davis poured in 37 points for Delgado to lead all scorers while JaMichael Hawkins led Gulf Coast with 22. Chris Bilbo had 14 points while Stacey Carroway added 13 for the Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs (9-3) have now won three straight thanks to a 54-35 pounding of Delgado highlighted by a 13-2 run to begin the second half. Shameika Hart led Gulf Coast with 20 points, including four three-pointers, while Markia Nix added 13 in the victory.

Gulf Coast dives back into MACJC South Division play Monday, Jan. 14 by hosting archrival Pearl River. Game times are 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and fans can watch all the action via streaming video at www.mgcccbulldogs.com.
