MGCCC basketball splits at East Central

DECATUR---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College ended 2012 on a nine-game winning streak but is now dealing with a three-game losing skid in 2013 after falling 91-81 to East Central. Gulf Coast (11-4, 2-2) has struggled since a broken foot sidelined sophomore starter Angel Matias.

Meanwhile the Lady Bulldogs (11-3, 3-1) are riding a five-game winning streak after an 81-69 win over East Central. Brittany Jones, Presley Owens, and Markia Nix each had double-doubles against the Lady Warriors, with Jones tallying 22 points and 10 rebounds while Owens netted 15 points and 10 boards and Nix had 14 points and 12 rebounds.
