MGCCC basketball sweeps Hinds

UTICA---For Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, a streak continued and one was broken at Hinds Jan. 28. The Lady Bulldogs swamped Hinds 75-43 to extend their winning streak to eight while the Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing skid with a 67-47 win over the Hinds.

The Gulf Coast men (12-5, 3-3) were led by Stacey Caroway and JaMichael Hawkins who each had 15 points while Giancarlo Santiago had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs (14-3, 5-1) were led by Yasmine Nelson with 19 points while Shameika Hart had 13, Brittany Jones had 12, and reigning MACJC Player of the week Markia Nix added 11.

Gulf Coast returns home Thursday to host Co-Lin with games at 6 & 8 p.m.
