PERKINSTON---On a rainy night in South Mississippi, Gulf Coast sophomore JaMichael Hawkins showered East Central with seven three-pointers and 26 points as the Bulldogs hammered the Warriors 91-75.

Hawkins, who’s averaging 24 points in his last four games, got plenty of help as Darius Forest scored 23 points, Giancarlo Santiago added 18, and Chris Bilbo netted 15. With the victory, Gulf Coast (14-7, 5-5) remains alive for a playoff spot and a chance to defend back-to-back MACJC title.

Meanwhile the Lady Bulldogs (16-5, 7-3) fought off a determined East Central squad to win 74-66 and sweep the season series. Presley Owens led the way with 22 points while Shameika Hart and Markia Nix each had 16 and Yasmine Nelson added 15.

Gulf Coast travels to Jones Thursday, Feb. 14 with games at 6 & 8 p.m.
