MGCCC tennis volleys past Holmes

Sean Robinson was a singles & doubles winner vs. Holmes Feb. 15.

Brittney Buker won in #1 singles & #1 doubles vs. Holmes Feb. 21.
The men were led by Alex Puyol and Sean Robinson, with both players earning victories in singles and doubles action. Puyol defeated Daryl Hale of Holmes 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 (tiebreaker) while Robinson defeated Rami Jamilet 6-2, 6-3. Also winning in straight sets for Gulf Coast were Nick Georgian, who shut down Connon Wilson 6-1, 6-0, Travis Burdick, who cruised past Mitchell Parkman 6-0, 6-1, and sophomore Grant Bell, who shut out Grey Tedford 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Puyol/Robinson got past Hale/Black 8-6 while Lachlan Puyol/Georgian whipped Jamilet/Wilson 8-1. Closing out the sweep in men’s doubles was Burdick/Bell, who defeated Parker/Tedford 8-2.
The Lady Bulldogs got strong outings from Brittney Buker, Kit Chowdhary, Mary King and Sarah Sores as all four won their singles matches in straight sets.
Buker took down Rebecca Shields 6-2, 6-4 while Chowdhary beat Elizabeth Petro 6-0, 6-2. Mary King ran past Harley Harrison 6-0, 6-2 while Sarah Sores outlasted Callie Swinney 7-6, 7-6.
In number one women’s doubles play, Buker/Chowdhary handled Shields/Petro 8-2 while in number two doubles King/Aliesha Barlow shut out Cabell/Harrison 8-0.
Gulf Coast travels to Hinds for an MACJC match Thursday, Feb. 21.
