Here’s a look at how eight former Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College baseball players did during the first weekend of NCAA college baseball action:

Anthony Izzio (P/South Alabama): Went three and one-third innings Friday night for the Jaguars and allowed three runs on five hits, and had three strikeouts. He did not factor into the decision. U.S.A. swept Stephen F. Austin over the weekend.

Sean Kennel (P/Southeastern Louisiana): Went six innings for the Lions on Saturday & scattered six hits, allowed one earned run, struck out two, and got the victory. SE LA went 3-0 on the weekend.

Trey Porter (1B/Mississippi State): Was 6-for-17 at the plate this weekend with a double and three RBI in Miss State’s four-game sweep of Portland.

Nick Purdy (C/Northwestern State): Was 5-for-14 for the Demons this weekend in a sweep of Grambling, including a double and three RBI.

Tyler Bray (P/Louisiana-Monroe): Made two different appearances for the Warhawks this weekend. On Friday night, Bray worked one inning and struck out two then pitched one and two-thirds of an inning on Sunday. ULM went 3-1 over the weekend against Wake Forest and Alcorn State.

Daniel Miles (INF/Tennessee Tech): Was 3-for-7 on the weekend including a double and three RBI as the Golden Eagles went 2-1 against Big Ten power Illinois.

Daniel Wineski (P/Southern Miss): Worked two-thirds of an inning in relief for the Golden Eagles on Saturday as they swept SEC-newcomer Missouri in Hattiesburg.

Ben Slaton (OF/Old Dominion): Was 1-for-5 with an RBI over the weekend as the starting right fielder for the Monarchs. ODU went 1-1 against Marshall.
