MGCCC baseball splits at Faulkner State

MGCCC pitcher Stuart Holmes got the win in game 2 vs. Faulkner St. Feb. 20.

BAY MINETTE, AL---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College started slow but finished strong in a 6-0, 7-3 doubleheader split at Faulkner State Wednesday.

The Bulldogs (6-2) could only manage two hits in game one but jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the nightcap on an RBI double by Tyler Quave and a two-run homerun by Jarrod Gates, who added a solo homer in the fifth. Gates had two hits along with Kyle Clement and Blake Lawson, who also homered. Stuart Holmes (2-0) started the game and got the win while Cam Cochran, Kyle Cumlander, and Jordan Mata all worked in relief for the Bulldogs.

Gulf Coast is back in action this Saturday at home against Alabama Southern with game times at 2 & 4 p.m.
