The Bulldogs (8-2) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take game one 6-5 and scored two in the bottom of the ninth to win the nightcap 7-6.
Kyle Clement ended game one with a two-run single while Michael Gilbert smacked two solo homeruns, with the second igniting the four run rally in the seventh. Gilbert finished game one with three hits while Tyler Quave, Ryne Long, and Blake Lawson each had two. Jordan Mata got the win on the mound while Taylor Olsen started the game and struck out three in four innings. Kyle Cumlander worked middle relief and struck out two in two and two-third innings.
In game two, Gulf Coast and Alabama Southern were tied 5-5 and went into extra innings with the Eagles taking a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth. The Bulldogs rallied again as Jarrod Gates tied the game with an RBI single then Ryne Long scored the game winner on one of five errors committed by the Eagles (4-11). Gilbert and Tyler Hardy both had two hits in the nightcap while pitcher Cameron Cochran pitched the last three innings in relief and got the victory.
Gulf Coast goes back on the road Tuesday for a doubleheader at Baton Rouge with games at 3 & 5 p.m.
