MGCCC’S Taylor Norris had four hits to help Gulf Coast sweep Muskegon (MI) Feb. 26.

PERKINSTON---The chilly weather might have made Muskegon (MI) feel at home, but Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College made the visitors feel downright icy in an 8-7, 11-0 doubleheader sweep Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (6-3) fell behind Muskegon 4-0 but came back to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the second. Gulf Coast then jumped in front 8-5 and held off the Lady Jayhawks for the win. Taylor Norris went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for Gulf Coast at the plate while Dani Craft also had 2 hits. Pitcher Emily Davis (2-0) went the distance and gave up 3 earned runs in 7 innings.

In the nightcap, Gulf Coast used a six-run fourth to blow open the contest and win it 11-0 in five innings. Craft belted a two-run homer and also doubled while Reina Baluja, Norris, Morgan Fairley, and Ashley Hickman all added two hits in the 13 hit attack.

Baluja (3-2) struck out six in five innings for the win in the circle.

Gulf Coast returns to action Mar. 6 at Baton Rouge.
