PERKINSTON---Nearly three weeks ago Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College was swept by Baton Rouge on the road. On Wednesday the Lady Bulldogs returned the favor at home in a 5-1, 9-4 doubleheader sweep of the Lady Bears.

Gulf Coast (11-4) got a win in the circle featuring eight strikeouts and two hits including a two-run homer from Reina Baluja in a 5-1, game one victory. Morgan Fairley also had two hits while the team racked up three stolen bases.

In the 9-4 nightcap, the Lady Bulldogs scored eight runs in the first inning highlighted by a three-run triple by Shalaria Pickens. Brooke Gaston had three hits while Pickens, Morgan Fairley, Emily Davis, and Ashley Hickman each had two hits. Baluja also added a solo homerun while Davis struck out eight and got the victory.

Gulf Coast begins MACJC South Division play this Saturday with a doubleheader at Hinds.
