MGCCC basketball players earn All-State & Region honors

Another successful basketball season for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has landed post-season honors for several men’s and women’s players.

Chris Bilbo earned a spot on the All-Region 23 team while Bilbo and Hawkins were both named to the All-MACJC First Team.

Bilbo, a freshman from Jackson, averaged 13.4 points per game while Hawkins, another sophomore from Jackson, averaged 17.7 points per game as the Bulldogs finished 2012-13 with a 17-8 record and another appearance in the MACJC Tournament.

Lady Bulldog Presley Owens was an All-Region 23 selection and All-MACJC second Team honoree while Markia Nix earned All-MACJC First Team honors.

Owens, a sophomore from Vancleave, averaged 12.4 points per game while Nix, a sophomore from Moss Point, averaged 13.4 points per contest as the Lady Bulldogs went 18-8 and made it to the Region 23 semi-finals.
