PERKINSTON---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College used a little bit of everything in a 2-0, 8-7 doubleheader sweep of MACJC South Division foe Co-Lin Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (15-4, 4-0) got strong pitching from Reina Baluja and a key RBI single from Lea Kittrell to slip by Co-Lin 2-0 in game one. Baluja (8-3) fanned five and continues to rank among the NJCAA’S D-II leaders in strikeouts while Kittrell led the way at the plate with two hits.

In the nightcap Gulf Coast scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to come from behind and win 8-7. Kittrell, who had three hits in game two, drove in three including the game winner while Morgan Fairley, Cocoa Bender, and Shalaria Pickens each had two hits. Pickens stole four bases in game two while Fairley swiped two as both added to their NJCAA leading totals for the season. Hallie Frenn relieved starter Emily Davis, struck out five, and pitched 3 and 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the victory.

The Lady Bulldogs entertain Jones Saturday with games at Noon and 2 p.m.
