For the second time this season, Gulf Coast lost a game on a walk-off grand slam by the opposing team. Anthony Izzio (5-2) suffered the loss, going 7 and 2/3 innings, striking out eight while giving up 11 hits and five earned runs. The Bulldogs shuffled the batting order and got a 2-for-5, two homerun performance from new lead-off man Micheal Paul. Designated hitter Ben Slaton moved up to the two spot and went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
The Bulldogs used a 13-run third inning to blow the nightcap open and cruise to a 15-5 victory. Nick Purdy worked two innings and ended up with the win on the mound and had two hits at the plate along with Micheal Paul, Daniel Miles, and Zach DeSoto. Purdy and Miles drove in two runs apiece while DeSoto and Dieter Hamilton each had 3 RBI.
Gulf Coast (17-17, 10-6) hosts archrival Pearl River Friday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
