Softball ends season at Region 23 Tournament

11 sophomores helped Gulf Coast win the MACJC South Division title in 2011.
At the Region 23 Tournament in Clinton May 5-7, Gulf Coast tore through the elimination bracket but fell 3-1 to No. 1 ranked LSU-E to end the season for the Lady Bulldogs (36-13). LSU-E went on to win the tournament over East Central, with both teams advancing to the NJCAA D-II Tournament May 19-21 in Normal, IL.
Gulf Coast fell to LSU-E 8-3 in the first round but fought back to eliminate both Pearl River 9-1 and Jones 6-5 in the bottom half of the bracket.
In 2011 the Lady Bulldogs won their first MACJC South Division title since 2007 and hosted the MACJC Tournament April 28-29, losing to East Central 7-6 in the championship game.
The Lady Bulldogs also finish 2011 ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA D-II softball poll.
