MGCCC softball players earn post-season honors

Five MGCCC Lady Bulldogs earned post-season honors after going 36-13 in 2011.

Five members of the 2011 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs recently earned post-season recognition after they helped lead Gulf Coast to its first MACJC South Division title since 2007.

Gulf Coast sophomores Bayleigh Babin and Courtney Fairley made the 2011 All-Region 23 squad while Sophomores Linsey Dickerson, Kayla Herbert, and freshman Kriss Albritton received All-MACJC honors.

Babin, a pitcher from Long Beach, was 15-4 in 2011 with 2.01 earned run average while Fairley, a shortstop from Wiggins, batted .359 with three homeruns and 30 RBI.

Dickerson, a pitcher from East Central, went 15-6 with a 2.04 ERA and threw four no-hitters in 2011. Herbert, a third baseman from Pascagoula, hit .298 with three homeruns and 26 RBI while Albritton, a freshman from Gulfport, hit .336 with three homeruns and 25 RBI and also went 2-0 as a pitcher with a 2.50 ERA.

The Lady Bulldogs finished 2011 with a 36-13 record.
