PERKINSTON---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defeated Baton Rouge for the second time in six days at the Gulf Coast Classic. The Bulldogs (5-2) downed the Bears 69-45 behind 16 points from Angel Matias. Jerimiah Dunnings added 10 points for Gulf Coast whlie Justin Childs had 9. The Bulldogs fell behind 7-0 to start the game but quickly erased the deficit en route to a 34-29 halftime lead. Gulf Coast takes on Holmes Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs (3-3) had a chance to get another buzzer-beater against Baton Rouge but Shamekia Hart's last second shot didn't connect in a 68-66 loss. Hart led Gulf Coast with 16 points while Tatyana Haywood, Ricille Davis, and Brittany Jones each had 8. The Lady Bulldogs take on Alabama Southern Tuesday at 11:45 a.m.
