Basketball sweeps Bishop State

Both Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College basketball teams are riding winning streaks into the Christmas break.

The Bulldogs (10-2) extended their winning streak to six with a 91-55 blowout of Bishop State. Justin Childs led the Bulldogs with 18 points while Jeffery Simmons added 15 and Bryan Williams and Ice Asortse each had 10.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-4) ran past Bishop State 75-58 as Shamekia Hart led the way with 18 points. Ricille Davis had 16 and Brittany Jones added 11.

Gulf Coast resumes play January 10, 2012 against Delgado in Perkinston with game times at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
